Brian Aselton Road Race

It was a beautiful day to run a short race commemorating a young police officer that was killed in the line of duty. It was 50' at race time and there was a record number of runners this year due to the warm weather. I started off strong with a 7:24 first mile split, then the second mile I was at 15:25 and I fininshed the race at 24:10. There were three hills at the end that kicked my butt. I think I have to insert some hill workouts for myself, they could only help.

I am on a new healthy eating kick ( except I just finished a small cup of chocolate almond chip ice cream, oops!). I went to my doctor on Friday and my cholesterol is up to 245!!!!!!!!! Instead of coffee with cream and sugar, I am drinking green tea, honey and skim milk. I am changing my eating habits one baby step at a time. I can't give up the chocolate goodies right yet. Better yet I have to find some not so fat chocolate treat that will satisfy my cravings.

Have a good week!

Yay! Those mile splits are awesome! I don't think there is EVER anything wrong with just trying to be healthier. Good luck getting that number down!!

Nice job on the race and good luck with the healthy eating. Not an easy thing to do and I hope I will not have to resort to cutting out coffee and chocolate anytime soon. Stay strong! Chocolate is good!
